The Boston "Fall into Watercolor" enrichment workshop is a new addition to Abbi Marchesani's schedule. The September 21st day, open to painters of all experience levels, includes master class discussions, demonstrations, technical exercises and in-depth critiques. With the smaller class size, painters will experience ways to spark their own process. The day's agenda also includes a guided tour of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum with a focus on treatment of light and the watercolors in the museum's collection.
On the faculty of the Provincetown Art Association's Herman and Mary Robinson Museum School for more than 10 years, Abbi Marchesani has maintained a high profile in America's oldest surviving art colony since 1971. Specializing in environmentally friendly water-based media, she has offered numerous workshops at Cape Cod Community College, and is on the faculty roster of the Provincetown International Art Institute. She was the featured artist in The Provincetown Banner on August 1st, 2002.
Working in a variety of media, Marchesani utilizes two distinct approaches: Carefully executed drawings are saturated with riotous color. These pieces require time and control. Free-style "alla prima" work is completed in one sitting, allowing brushwork and a sense of activity to dominate each painting. Her enthusiasm, energy, techniques and approaches are shared in her workshops. Abbi is most often quoted urging her students to "Get Wild with Color!"
Tuition: $75.00 including admission to the museum and the guided tour.
